- What is a portable air cooler?
A portable air cooler is a device that utilizes evaporative cooling to provide an air stream that is cooler than the surrounding air.
- Is this an air conditioner?
No, this is an air cooler. This unit will not lower the ambient temperature in the room in which it is installed as an air conditioner would. The air stream that it provides is cooler than the ambient temperature, but once you step outside the air stream, you will no longer feel the cooling effects. However, an air cooler does not require a vent as an air conditioner would, and you do not need to empty any condensation bucket.
- Does an air cooler add humidity to the air?
Yes, an air cooler does. It cools through the endothermic process of evaporation, and because of this, it adds some humidity to the air.
- Do I have to fill it with water?
Yes, you do have to fill the air cooler with water to achieve maximum cooling.
- How can I lower the temperature of the air stream?
Try putting ice in the water reservoir.
- How long does the water last?
A full tank of water should last at least several hours of use on "High."

Little Cooler!

The heat index is in it's triple digit numbers here in Texas. Even the garage is showing 105 with the door open and a fan running. can't get the inside lower than 85-86 degrees. The AC only gets a break at night. I needed something more and I got it. After ordering my Sunpentown Evaporative Air Cooler SF-608R, it arrived in about 4-days and was put to work. The air started to cool down slowly. Let me say that even though this little cooler can't cover the size of the front room, it helped in bringing down the temp to where we run it at 80 degrees.
I'm happy to say that I'm loving it, because heat is one thing that can bring me down at my age after open heart surgery. It's made for a smaller room, but I still use it in a much larger room and it did help! Do I recommend it? YES! I only wish I had the cash flow to get a much bigger one for the garage.

THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT TO AC AT ALL. So if you are thinking, you need an AC, go ahead and look elsewhere. I live in Vestal, NY with 40-70% humidity and still this item operates the way I expected. Fill it up with lots of Ice cubes and it cools down your room. Again not as much as AC tho. This makes you feel sitting outside porch and getting nice breeze at your face.. Fill the top part with ice packs and it's even gets cooler. don't fill it up all the way with water as it said in instruction as the water equalivates to your room temperate. ( natural physics rule )Keep 1/3 of water and 2/3 ice and you'll enjoy this device as much as I do...Good Luck.

Excellent for the price ... good for small areas, it's a little more than a fan and less than an AC. I used it because I had no way of connecting an exhaust pipe of a portable AC in this room

Got this to cool my bedroom, because if it gets windy I can't open the window unless I want the wind to take it lol. Added some water, tray of ice and it got the job done fast and nice. When I am not using water, I pop a ice pack on the top compartment and it still cools the bedroom just as good :)

Being from the Midwest, Chicago, I had low expectations for this purchase after reading the product description and due to the high humidity we have here, though I read the opposite somewhere too, that the product works well in humid environments. I generally would rather do with only a fan all summer but sometimes it becomes unbearably hot. This product breaks up the heat and creates a nice cool breeze and some much appreciated relief.
