First let me say Thank you to all the previous reviewers. It was based on your opinions that urged me to buy this popper and I am so happy that I did.
I eat 1-2 bags of 94% FF microwave bag popcorn a day. Considering I buy them all sale that's still $2-$4 a day. But quite honestly I can't live with my popcorn fix, esp since I quit smoking. Even though I liked the micro bags, I still have an issue with all the "junk" added into them. This popper gives you the convenience of microwave popcorn without the expense, unpopped kernels, burning and unhealthy additives.
I set my small Daewoo microwave to 3:30 min on high and viola - big bowl of popcorn with 6 unpopped kernels. I really like this uncomplicated gizmo. I was sure to buy about 6 packs of concentrators, and since I know that they are sold by Amazon I can just buy more.
1 batch pops approx 8 popped cups of corn which is approx 240 calories. Double the calories if using butter.
This is a really great product and I am so happy I bought it.

I got this 10 years ago in college, and still use it periodically when I don't want the noise of my air-popper, which I love as well. This item makes fast microwave popcorn without the greasy microwave bag. I get to controll what goes on the popcorn. Just a brilliant little item. must have for college kids.

I *love* this device! I experimented with it in my particular microwave and learned that the standard load of 1/3 cup of popcorn (you can use *any* kind) cooks perfectly at 3 minutes, 12 seconds. Any less than that, and some of the kernels don't pop. Any more than that and some kernels begin to burn. The directions say you can use oil inside it, but I don't, because I want the little cardboard inserts to last a long time. I empty the popcorn into a different bowl, then I melt butter in the microwave (3 tbsp. is about right), pour it over the popcorn, add salt and stir well. You can also pour anything else you want over the popcorn, like parmesan or other dried, grated cheese, or herbs and spices. The popcorn this device produces is really, really tasty. Far better than that from microwave popcorn packets, and without the horribly unhealthy trans fats they add to them, too.

I love popcorn and have about 4 or 5 different poppers of various types. I've also tried various homemade methods of popping corn in the microwave. None compares to this simple appliance. It's just a bowl, in which you place a special cardboard cup to hold the kernels. That all sits on a special base and you put the whole thing in the m'wave. You can use oil or not, up to you.
If you want light popcorn, especially if you want air-popped popcorn, there is no better method out there. I had a batch the other night using Jolly Time kernels and I only had 7 duds. The texture is excellent too.
The only drawback is that it's sometimes hard to find the special cups you have to use but luckily they have them here on amazon.

This is a very simple popper that gets the job done. In my small microwave, it takes about 4 minutes for a load that lifts the top (I'm a four-quart person with a three-quart popper, so I put in a few more than the prescribed 1/3 cup). Since I use oil, the concentrators don't last as long as for dry popping (6 uses vs. about 30), but they are inexpensive and available from many sources on-line. The slits in the cover let the steam escape and give you crisp popcorn every time.
I have used this popper for about eight years, and never once regretted it. I bought it because I wanted the convenience of microwave without the transfats that come with microwave popcorn. Those who say that the concentrators don't work or the popcorn tastes bad must be using inferior oil or microwave ovens made in Elbonia.
