I cook perfect rice every time. Even the gourmet and exotic rices cook great. And the rice pilaf's I can now cook are out of this world. And I've also made great soups and stews with it. This is the best kitchen electric I've ever had. If you like rice you'll love this. No rice burnt brown on the bottom for sure with this cooker.

I work for a Japanese owned company, so I did a little survey prior to purchasing a rice cooker. Of the many Japanese nationals working in my office the majority said that Sanyo was the preferred rice cooker for their families. They specifically recommended the ECJ-F50S model, by and large they all preferred Sanyo over Zojirushi. I look forward to using my new rice cooker, knowing that persons who eat rice three times a day (per their description, not mine) prefer this machine.

People who are addicted to Zojirushi may change their mind when they discover how great the Sanyo ECJ models are!! I have the ECJ-F50S, pretty much the same as the D55S but with a thicker titanium coating--3.5 mm!! The 5.5 cup only has 2.5 mm thick titanium coating. It's super durable and cooks rice perfectly! We have been using rice cooker our whole life and this is the best we have used so far! If size doesn't really matter, go for the 5 Cup F50s model, that one is much better!

This rice cooker is superb. It cooks from 1-5 cups of rice perfectly every time. Yes, it takes longer than your standard rice cooker but that seems to be due to the micro-processor. It adjusts cooking temperatures to make sure the cooker doesn't get too hot and glue the rice to the bottom of the cooker. I also like the way the cooker vents only steam and doesn't spit rice paste all over the counter like my old cooker. The cooker is simple to use and has settings for all types of rice (including rice porridge) plus an auto-on timer. The cooker also has a keep warm feature but normally you don't need it. The extra heavy duty rice bowl keeps the rice hot for a considerable amount of time. Clean-up is easy, the internal vented lid and top vent pop out and wipe clean. The first time was a little slow becuase the instructions aren't very specific about how to take apart and clean the cooker. Once past the first time though it is very quick. Overall, I'm could not be happier with the product.

I've had this cooker for just a week. It's everything I hoped it would be. I read all the reviews of every rice cooker out there before I decided to purchase this one and wish to thank all the folks who write reviews. I've cooked brown rice and sweet brown rice. I've made two batches of steel cut oats, used the slow cook function to test the temperature...I'm sure that it cooks at the high temperature rather than low that is mentioned in slow cooker cookbooks. The size is equal to that of a 1 1/2 quart slowcooker. I steam cooked eggs to hard cooked perfection and made a concoction from cooked brown rice and added some ingredients and and cooked a little more in the cooker...we loved it. The size is just right for two...enough leftovers for a second meal. Cleanup is so easy... I was very interested in the Zojirushi induction model but I noted that this model has a sprouted brown rice function...that means cooking sprouted brown rice, not sprouting it in the cooker. I had hoped that was not the case but given the difference in price I am not dissappointed. I hope this is helpful to someone as the other reviews have been very helpful to me.
