 Soleus Air introduces its new line of Energy Star rated portable dehumidifiers. Light weight and heavy duty casters allow the ultra portable dehumidifiers to be moved and placed almost anywhere. Keeping with our tradition of making energy efficient products, Soleus Air created this new line of dehumidifiers to adhere to all Energy Star dehumidifier standards. In addition to portability and energy efficiency, Soleus Air have added the low temperature operation to our feature packed dehumidifier line. Low temperature operation allows the units to operate in a basement all year round without freezing up and shutting off.

Quiet Compressor - water level sight glass is helpful.

This is about the fourth different brand of dehumidifier I have purchased over the last 10 or 15 years. Nothing seems to last too long anymore - but this one has a new style of compressor if I remember the ad correctly and it is very quiet. In fact you can't hear if the compressor is even turning on and off when the fan is on med or high. Bucket has cool sight glass with a floating ball, so you can see the water level, but I switched to hose connection and that works fine also. Fan air direction blows upward, which at first seemed strange, but it does allow unit to be placed against a wall and since it sucks in from the front most likely creates more complete room air circulation. The relative humidity gauge is worthless however, as it is 10% higher than the three others I placed in the room as a double check. They are all withing 5 degrees of each other. Perhaps it's location is too near the condensing water, thus causing a high reading, but as long as you are aware of it's inaccuracies and make appropriate adjustments, all is ok. It is either poor engineering of the placement of the sensor or a cheap relative humidity analyzer. You would think that would be one of the most important items on a dehumidifier - an accurate reading of the humidity. All in all, this appears to be the best made, most reasonably priced unit I have bought to date. If it lasts more than 3 years I will be elated. (Well maybe just satisfied - getting elated over a dehumidifier is kind of a sad commentary on my life.)

I purchased the Soleus DP1-70-03 70 pint for my 1500 square foot basement (all underground) and it keeps it at 65. Runs very quiet.

this soleus works great. I have two of them now. The best thing to do is to buy this and then get the warranty from squaretrade. What a great combination

This dehumidifier so far works just as described. It is a bit noisy, but all the dehumidifiers I have used have been noisy. It removes moisture from the area downstairs quite well, and stops when the pan is full. My old machine wouldn't stop working when the pan was full, and it also leaked around the pan. This one seems better made, but I'll have to give it a year to know absolutely. So far, I'm quite pleased.
