I'm typically a person who gets annoyed by a fan that is blowing directly on me, but this fan is amazing. When I was in Italy this summer I was first introduced to fans with these types of functions and I fell in love. Once back in the USA I visited no less than 8 stores and none sold anything remotely similar. They key features of this fan (at least for me) are that it allows you to choose settings that offer intermittent/patterned air movement as well as varied oscillation patterns. A combination of these settings allow the opportunity to please even the fussiest person... like me! This fan set on "Nature" and "Figure 8" is the closest thing to a natural breeze you can imagine. I can finally sleep all night with a fan on! If only I'd have looked here first, and bought online, instead of running all over town.

This reasonably priced fan smoothly shifts from speed, oscillations to an up/down motion - individually or simultaneously. Its extraordinary capabilities captivate and deliver a totality of coolness; it's hard to live without. I just bought my second Soleus Air FS2-40R-32 16-Inch 3-Speed Oscillating Stand Fan with Remote Control"

I have spent two month hunting for a fan that had a descent motor. And, this one does with an original box weight of 12 pounds, but it is re-packaged in a second box bringing the weight 20 pounds. Spend the seventy eight dollars plus with free shipping and you can turn off the computer, as well as, giving up the visits to hardware stores, Target, Sears, Homedepot and Bed,Bath and Beyond. Those $40 or $50 dollar fans weight is nine pounds which means a very small motor.
The Soleus-Air has a thermastat that can change speed depending on the tempature of the room, and turn off automatically if it over heats.
It can oscillate, left to right, up or down, or both at the same time, making a figure eight.
A LCD with room temperature, mode and speed, twelve hours timer and clear plastic blades, which disappear when fan is on. Also, a remote control from any angle and did I mention the large motor. I'm happy with my fan, now I turning off the computer.

I was very surprised to read the negative reviews about this fan. I've actually owned it for a year, and was going to purchase a second one. I've never had a problem with it at all and I LOVE the temperature setting feature. It works great. The fan starts out low in the morning, but by the afternoon when it's hot, it's cranked itself up to high. I also really like the figure 8 setting because it really blows the air around nicely.
I would defintely recommend this product.

I've had this fan for a couple months now. It is the strongest, most powerful fan I've owned! (And I've owned A LOT!). I originally bought it to place in front of my exercise equipment for when I'm exercising. Since it's very hot in this room, I constantly have to have a fan on, and this one has now replaced my desktop fan. It allows me to use my central air conditioning less, too. The remote control is great, so I can control the fan from anywhere in the room. I just got one for my daughter. All "Pros"; No "Cons", as far as I'm concerned. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this fan!!!
