This Micathermic heater is a fantastic way to bring heat to any room in your home without running your utility bills through the roof! Quiet operation... allows you to go to sleep undisturbed, plus has a time shut off feature which is just great! Great find

Purchased 2 for Florida home. Used to maintain comfortable temperature [65 deg] in living room and bedroom(s) overnight. Last night the outside temp in Citrus County dropped to 24 degrees! Set house heating system [forced air] to 63 deg. overnight. Preheated master b'room and living room by setting heaters to 65 deg. on high mode [1500 watts] for one hour, then switched to low mode [750 watts] overnight. The main heating system did not come on all night and we slept comfortably!
I did a lot of homework on auxillary heaters, these are the best value due to the efficient mica heating design. Very satisfied with these units. No noise, safe. Love the high/low [1500/750 watt] and digital thermastat temp. settings. Would recommend to anyone needing a temporary [additional] heat source.

This is just about the perfect ambient room heater. The temperature is digitally set, and control seems perfect. Most important, the heater is ABSOLUTELY SILENT! No annoying fan noise.
I was skeptical this type of device, which passively channels generated heat so that it naturally rises and diffuses throughout the room, would be as effective as the classic heating-element plus fan-based space heater. I am now convinced. I have used this as the only heater in my bedroom this winter - avoiding the fan noise of the central system. The room is about 300SF with 12 foot ceilings, and this heater does the job (but admittedly has struggled on three or four of the coldest evenings).
The only issue, and in the grand scheme of things it's a small one, is that it won;t heat a room as quickly as some standard space heaters can. Big deal - mine has run at 71 degrees (which BTW is indeed distinct from 70 degrees with this device) for the past three months, silently and without notice. Wow, I am super happy with this.
I live in NYC, and because of the silly way my common charges are structured, I have no idea what my electric costs are, and can't judge the impact of this heater.

This is a fantastic room heater !
I looked on the INET for an electronic heater, as I was tired of oil filled or infrared room heaters. I heard that electronic heaters were very efficient and actually warmed the space. I was not mislead.
This heater has a thermostat that keeps the temperature very stable. It is also digital and has a readout that shows the current temperature. The best part, is that it has a remote control... you can set it from across the room. Very nice.
I cannot imagine a better product for me, than the flat panel Micathermic heater from Soleus.
