Very satisfied,

After living with this unit for about 3 months, I have to say I have no complaints. It is well-designed and does what it is supposed to do: remove humidity. I live in central Florida, and during the winter months oftentimes weeks go by where you don't use any heat or air conditioning. While your house stays a comfortable temperature, say 73-75 deg, the humidity level can get very high (>70%). The temperature is too high to turn on the heat, and too cool for air conditioning. So I bought this unit to use during the winter, and it works quite well to lower the humidity level in my single-level 2400 sqft house. I set the dehumidifier to 40%, and turn it on when I go to bed. It runs all night, because in the 8 hours or so that I am asleep, it can't bring the humidity level of my entire house down to the 40% set point. It does, however, bring the humidity level down from say, 67% into the mid-40% range, making the house much more comfortable. And the water tank gets nearly filled, I would guess 8-9 liters of water removed. (It has actually tripped off using the full float switch on an especially humid night, so I know that the switch works.) The handle on the tank is a nice design feature. I use the water to water my potted plants outside. The unit is not especially quiet, but we put it in the middle the of our house about 40 feet away from our open bedroom, and it provides a nice white noise from that distance. I don't think I would want it in my bedroom, however. And it is pretty energy efficient. I have a watt meter, and the one night I measured its energy usage it used 5.5 kilowatt hours running for an 8 hour period. At my maximum electricity rate of 11 cents/kwh this works out to about 60 cents to run it all night. Definitely worth it for the increase comfort.

This thing REALLY works !
Matt P (CA, USA) 2/22/2012 1:49 PM
This thing sucks the moisture out of the air like nobody's business. I get about over a quart in an hour or so. I can watch the humidity drop on a seperate gauge I have in the house. My house is small - about 600 square feet.

Got this to replace the 15 year old Emerson Quiet Cool that died. It's thinner than the old unit, the hose to drain into an external pump feeds nicely to the outside without having to remove the drip tray. It's not too loud (we keep this in our basement). We place it on a platform hung from the ceiling. I hang laundry to dry in a laundry area of the basement and the dehumidifier helps to dry cloths quickly and keeps the basement from getting moldy. It got rid of all the humidity down to 35%, even with a 50 degree basement temp. I highly recommend it.

It saved our indoor pool carpet
Michael B. Combs (CA, USA) 2/21/2012 10:55 AM
The dehumidifier replaced an earlier model which failed after six years of hard use. This model is a significant improvement over the previous because it restarts automatically after a power outage, which are frequent in our area. The old one had to be restarted manually after a power loss, which meant that if we were gone for a week or longer, when we returned we would find our pool/sunroom with soaking wet floor and walls. Now that doesn't happen. As soon as the power comes back on, so does the dehumidifier.

Worth the investment!
Jihoonie (NY, USA) 10/11/2011 4:09 PM
This is an initial review as I've only had this dehumidifier for two weeks. However, my initial impression is positive. The positive: - I opted for the 65-pint model as my furnished basement is about 900 square feet. This model sufficiently dries the basement running between 50-60% humidity at the current avg. temp of 70-75 degrees. We've had very wet weather for the entire summer here in New York and this humidifier has been running almost non-stop for the last two weeks. - Relatively quiet. I sleep through the noise of the dehumidifier going on and off throughout the night. It might be a nuisance to a very light sleeper, but I assume that the average consumer doesn't sleep near their dehumidifier anyway. - Good price. I researched dehumidifiers mainly on Amazon, and in the store at Home Depot, Target, Lowes and Walmart. The stores didn't carry this product, but their comparable models were more expensive. The negative: - Nothing yet. But I'll update this review after I've had this model for at least one full season of use.
